Well, basically it seems like the actively transcribed genome is packed into one globule… very interesting and a very hard to understand original article.

Are the nasty side effects of obesity fueled by BCAA’s?

Christopher Newgard and coworkers recently published that branched-chain amino acids are increased in obese individuals and seem to be a factor in the development of diabetes. See the paper: A Branched-Chain Amino Acid-Related Metabolic Signature that Differentiates Obese and Lean Humans and Contributes to Insulin Resistance.

The idea is not novel, but this is the first convincing metabolite profiling study in humans showing this result.

New site look

I decided to add a blog to my site and after looking at a couple of options, I ended up with Wordpress.
